Treaty Territory – Since 2016, 1.57 million products and supports have been approved under Jordan’s Principle across Canada.  Named in memory of little Jordan Anderson of Norway House, Jordan’s Principle ensures all First Nations children living in Canada can access the products, services and supports they need, when they need them. In Nations throughout our Treaty 2 Territory, we’ve learned of a wide range of health, social and educational supports being made available to assist with the unique needs of First Nations children, youth and those with disabilities. Ni-Niin-Jan-Is-Ag Jordan’s Principle Program is doing just that.

Ebb and Flow’s Ni-Niin-Jan-Is-Ag Jordan’s Principle Program has become one of the greatest supports and resources for children and families in the Nation. While the majority of programs and services operate out of their newly built facility, this week they changed their busy schedule a bit to accommodate and participate in Ebb & Flow First Nation’s Treaty Celebrations.

The Ni-Niin-Jan-Is-Ag Program hosted an entire FAMILY FUN DAY at beautiful Eagle Island. Under warm sunny skies, families came out to enjoy a BBQ, Bouncy Castles, “Back to School” Scramble, and a variety of Relay Races. The Island was packed throughout the entire day as people, young and elderly ate, laughed, and enjoyed being together after a challenging 2 year pandemic.

Ni-Niin-Jan-Is-Ag Jordan’s Principle Program has an extremely dedicated team of management and staff who work closely with the accredited Ebb and Flow Health Centre. Services include speech therapy, medical equipment, educational supports, mental health services etc.; while programming focuses on land based, and cultural activities.

Our Treaty 2 Territory staff  couldn’t help but notice a mutual respect between all those were present at Family Day yesterday. It was very well organized, and everyone worked together ensure all in attendance were safe, and enjoying themselves. We commend Ni-Niin-Jan-Is-Ag JP Staff, and all of the helpers that made this day one to remember for families, and especially the Abinoonjiaag.

Happy Treaty Days! Keep up the incredible work Vanessa, and Team.
