Wow in powwow is right folks, it all started with the drum beat to welcome in the grass dancers to begin the entry into the beautifully built arbor at Gambler’s point. The people of Minegoziibe Anishinabe are very proud of the arbor.
The honour and flag songs brought in the Migizi Mitig (Eagle Staffs) both Anishinaabe Agowidiiwinan and Treaty 2. The first entrance since creation from talented maker / gifter William Mousseau – Kakawekejeong Anishinaabe, the Anishinaabe Agowidiiwinan was brought in by its keeper. Such Migizi Mitig magnificently portrays all Local Nations in the territory with its 30 migizi feathers. Migizi Mitig, a true representation of sovereignty from the Anishinaabek Nation and government of the territory.
It was echoed by MC Ogema Morris Shannacappo and noticed by all that two migizi gii-pimaashi (eagles soared by) the arbor during the grand entry making such a special night more impressively beautiful at Minegoziibe Anishinabe.
