Good Day!

FNT2T Life Long Learning would like to celebrate the achievements of a young man from Pinaymootang First Nation, Mr. Julian Marsden.

Julian attended Grant Park High School in Winnipeg. He is from Pinaymootang First Nation in Treaty 2 Territory however he has lived in Winnipeg for most of his life.

Julian’s mother, Renata Meconse, who is also from Pinaymootang First Nation, shares that classes were not always easy for Julian but he always looked at the big picture and had the support of family and friends. A big motivation for Julian was football. He loved his sport, his teammates, and being part of a sport family. Julian put a lot of work into football and he loved his senior year.

Julian was fortunate enough to be rewarded with the Jack Jacobs scholarship presented by the Blue Bombers to help him pursue his post-secondary education so that he could continue to be a student athlete at the next level. After his last season, it was time for Julian to decide where he would continue his education and sport. Months later, he was recognized and blessed to be able to sign with the University of British Columbia to continue his career as a student athlete. Julian’s mother shares Julian’s words: “None of this would have been possible without the support of my parents, family members, friends, Indigenous Grad Coach and my mentors.” Julian’s grad coach was Indigenous educator Desi-Rae Anderson who also reigns from Pinaymootang First Nation. Julian plans to study Kinesiology in the next few years of his studies.
Congratulations Julian! FNT2T wishes you the greatest success!
